Detox Meaning: What exactly does it mean to detox? No, we're not talking about detox juices that offer quick fixes but no permanent remedies. Digital detox is something entirely different. It is you taking a break from everything that breaks and affects your productivity. It is making sure that you are taking the break that your mind and body needs. 

But we've all seen people talk about it or throw the word detox so randomly but how does one do it? If it were so easy, everyone would be doing it. Why is Detox important?

In today's connected world, where technology has dominated so many parts of our everyday lives, excessive screen time not only adds on to stress but can also affect your mental productivity. Imagine you're working from home and sitting at one place for more than 4 hours at a stretch in front of your screens and not just this but even when you're taking a break you're either on your laptop or scrolling reels on Instagram. A digital detox is exactly what you need in situations like this- a overall balance between the time you spend looking at screens and also reminding yourself to take consistent breaks.

A digital detox does not encourage you to leave all screens. It only makes you realise there is so much more to do than spending hours on mindless scrolling. Taking intentional digital breaks allows you to calm your mind and body. 

Set Daily Limits

Set daily limits and try sticking to them. Most people avoid using their phones after work and this has proven to show how their productivity has almost doubled. You feel more fresh at work, when both your work and life are balanced. For example: Limiting social media use to not more than an hour can help set achievable targets if you're just beginning your digital detox journey. 

Schedule Regular Fixed Breaks 

It is completely alright if you're working on a desk and have to use screens for hours for work, setting regular breaks can be helpful. Just for two minutes try closing your eyes and take deep breaths. During breaks, try if you can walk a hundred steps.

Spend Time Outdoors

Spend time outdoors for at least 15 minutes a day. If this is not allowed everyday, try to spend time outdoors during the weekends. Create these phone-free zones and hours that help you relax and unwind after a stressful day. 

Reconnect with Offline Activities 

A successful digital detox involves engaging in activities outside. If you're someone who likes offline activities, please re indulge. Fast lives do not mean we detach ourselves from our hobbies, they in fact should be all the more reasons for us to reconnect.
