Imagine it this way- you’ve spent your life’s earnings for a safe space for yourself and your family when everything else in the world has gone bad, what would you expect? Definitely something that is safe, sound and comfortable at least till the time everything else falls into place.
The series is exactly this and everything that this is not. From the very first scene, we are thrown into a world that screams power and privilege, something that feels normal for a wealthy family and almost immediately, everything else seems to go bad. The beginning feels almost magical, romantic and surreal- only for it to make a three sixty degree change- we’re then immediately thrown into a world of chaos, disruption and violence.
From real to the unreal-is exactly what sums up the series. It is almost that the chaos is staged and too real to be real. The overall message of the series is how it mirrors the human behaviours, reactions and responses to situations that test us.
We are also welcomed by truly fragmented characters, with each having a story of their own, struggling to come to terms with their thoughts. The depiction is not only limited to an elite class that comfortably believes in the bunker as a means for saving their lives but the plot is too much more actually. It goes beyond the wealthy, strips the rich of everything they own while being stuck in a world that is grounded with the idea of isolation.

Well, some may believe that this might just be a lesson for the rich to be treated as equally as the vulnerable. The bunkers that were places of money, comfort and luxury were now everything but that- they were monuments of restrictions, fear and chaos.
The entire plot is an experiment, one that is done by an extremely calculative woman and her team of experts. As we come towards the end of the series, we wonder what actually might be the sole purpose for this experiment? Is it only to have control over the uncontrollable or something more?
Getting down to the visuals for the series, the backdrop pretty much remains the same and restricts itself to the bunker- the very depiction of a prisoner-like state of the residents. The pace is comfortable to watch, though some scenes may feel extended. Overall, the series is a sight for sore eyes if you’re into psychological thrillers that thrive on the ideas of fear and isolation.
The series is everything the society projects and what it doesn't, from family members growing to hate each other to surviving together, the series definitely has it all.
Now, if the main question is whether you should stream it or skip it, we’d say stream it if you’re into psychological, suspenseful thrillers and skip it if you’re expecting it to be a 10/10.
